Hi,

I have been experimenting with setting up a second channel between two queue managers to take the response message of a specific transaction.

The request is placed onto QM1.RQ1 (which points to QM2.LQ1) on QM1 which has an xmit queue called QM2 and a channel called QM1.TO.QM2. The request has the reply to queue set QM1.LQ1 and the reply to queue manager set to QM1.
The request arrives on QM2.LQ1 and is processed and the response is sent back using the reply to details. QM2 has an xmit queue called QM1 and a channel called QM2.TO.QM1.

This works fine. The processing app on QM2 is Message Broker and there are actually a lot of different types of transaction that are sent from QM1 on this single queue.

I have been trying to get the responses for one particular transaction to go via a different channel. I setup a new xmit queue on QM2 called QM1.2 and a new channel called QM2.TO.QM1.1 (and the corresponding receiver on QM1). I also created a queue manager alias on QM1 called QM1.1 (resolving to QM1). The Message Broker flow that creates the response sets the reply to queue manager to QM1.2 for the transaction that I want to affect.

When I sent through a couple of test it worked and the responses were sent over the new channel(QM2.TO.QM1.1) but when I sent a couple more they went over the old channel (QM2.TO.QM1).
I ran a batch job to send 700 message from QM1 and 40% of the replies came back over the new channel and 60% over the old channel.

Any ideas why some of these transactions are still going back over the old channel?

doohhh, found the problem ... There was an old version of the flow running in a different execution group! Sometimes it helps to talk these things through
