Im planning a backup rutine of DR for WMB V7.
I can se that theres a new command in v7:
--------------------------
mqsibackupbroker KROKERNAME -d dirName [-a archiveName]
- Backs up configuration state from the file system
- Internal configuration store
– Registry
– Artifacts deployed from barfiles (not user-defined nodes)
- Shared configuration
- Online backups supported
- Used for disaster recovery scenarios only
– Operational state (from MQ queues) not saved
-----------------------------
Does this mean that its only nessasary to do the command and backup folders that contains user defined nodes (we have user defined jplugin) to do a full backup for DR? |

Why not try it for yourself on a local (windows) broker?
AFAIK, the command backs up everything in the runtime path
(/var/mqsi/... etc on Linux/Unix).
So far I've not had a need to examine the contents of the backup in exacting detail.

I havent the possibillity to test it right now because its on a customers server.
Anyone knows if the steps are enough to restore WMB on a new windows server as it was before? |

But im a beginner to WMB and should only do this backup rutine so not sure if I can tell that all data for a restore are present in the backup. |

Seem to me to be mutually incompatible.

You think there's a risk the backup command will not do a backup? Because it gets tired or bored halfway & decides it can't be bothered to put all the data in? So you need to check it?
Do you go through database backups as well? To see if one of the backed up tables has a few rows missing?
If you were to check the WMB backup, and discover some of the data was missing, what action would you take?

I know from WMQ that I have to take several steps to get a backup to restore from. Thats definitions, authorisations, win registry, SSL and exit folder.
Therefore I ask if I am missing some steps in backup WMB than the ones I mentioned |

Really? You need to back up all of that in WMQ?
I must have been doing it wrong all these years. Especially now you can back up definitions and authorisations in a single step.

SSL keystores should be backed up somewhere, but don't change very often so when you update it you can take a backup copy then.
Same for mqs.ini and qm.ini files. |

Humph. SSL belongs to the security people in my world.

I'd dispute there's anything in the ini files / registry that warrants a backup. Backup the create scripts instead.
