Well, that answers the question of whether they were going to call it 7.1 or 8...
Some of the new features are a bit like BlockIP2 - although I don't think it will offer all the same functions.
The multi-install feature is very welcome. |

The MQ sessions at the WTC conference next week in Berlin will be covering the details of the new release.
The announce letters just have very high-level summaries ... there's more than that to talk about. |

Hi all,
installing different versions in parallel is only one feature of version 7.1. I am looking forward to the problems, when the tools (and users) do not find the correct binaries, because of the now variable path names .
Further nice features are the security mechanisms in the channel configuration. These feature look similar to what I know from BlockIP2 .
My question is: Why these new features have not been added before . _________________ Regards

Don't know if you tried accessing it... I'm getting a "bad gateway" response... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

We've downloaded the 7.1 files last Friday.
Also, it looks like saveqmgr has made it in to 7.1
Dump MQ Configuration
You can use the Dump MQ configuration command (dmpmqcfg) on UNIX, Linux, and Windows systems, and DMPMQMCFG on IBM i to dump the configuration of queue managers in various scripting formats including MQSC, setmqaut and GRTMQMAUT. The scripts produced by the Dump MQ Configuration command can be used to restore or rebuild a queue manager. If you have previously used the Category 2 SupportPac MS03 - Save Queue Manager, you can use this command instead. _________________ Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man. - The Dude |

It's not saveqmgr.
It's new code that performs similar function. |

Don't put facts in the way of my opinions.
And I meant that finally the function is mainstream, if not the actual superbly written & maintainied code. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Does this new dmpmqcfg work in client connection mode?
I have just tried to install WMQ 7.1 on my windows PC .. the first thing it tells me is that "The existing installation cannot co-exist with this release of Websphere MQ and will be upgraded".
I have 7015 already installed - however I read that I need 7016 to co-exist - bit of a disappointment (as arranging a fixpack install in production is really as much effort as upgrading), but oh well.... |

OK, I have just installed 7.1 on Windows (alongside 7016).
I created a 7.1 QM, when I try to connect to it from MQ explorer (7.1) - I get a AMQ4999 - Unexpected Error (2063). An unlisted error while retrieving PCF data.
Hmm, how do I open a command window against the 7.1 install? It would be nice to have a menu item for this (like we have for WMB versions).
I am sure it's all in the infocentre - but that didn't start up when I ran the start bat for it (or rather Internet Explorer did not open up). |
