i did a MQ client upgrade some weeks ago(the original version is V6.***) to V7.0.1.3 in AIX prod env. when i had upgrade the MQ clients, no error message found.so i just checked the with the dspmqver and lslpp command and seem every thing went well. but now the user found that the component mqm.txclient.rte's version is still V6.0.2.2 and they don't know what the component is for. I just feel very very strange why the component was not updated . Does anybody know why ? How can i do now? remove the component or upgrade it with proper version pack? |

the component mqm.txclient.rte is part of the Extended Transactional Client. Did you upgrade this or just the basic client? _________________ Never let the facts get in the way of a good theory. |

You may have missed that fileset, look at what's installed at which level with the AIX command
Code: |
lslpp -l | grep mqm |
ETC client ships with the full product, not with the clients you can download. But you can install just the fileset you need from the full product install.
A fixpack won't upgrade a version from 6 to 7. But the full product is available at 7.0.1.3 and you can install the 7.0.1.4 fixpack if you want to on top. |

Remember as well that if you install the etc client on a box without MQ Server you will need a license for that... unless your IBM rep says differently... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

I just upgraded the MQ client from MQ clident upgrade package via smitty. I never aware of that component before. For that component, do we need to upgrade it separately with the MQ client package? |

Not sure what your question means. If you want the extended transaction client for WMQ 7.0.1.3 then you install it, if you don't want it - don't install.
ETC will not come with a standard client (of the sort you can freely download).
It only ships with the full MQ installable set (from passport advantage).
All WMQ product installables are available at a 7.0.1.3 level of build. So you won't need to apply fixpacks on top if you use this. |
