Our customer is migrating their middleware from webmethods(WM 6.5) to message broker(MB 6). As part of this migration, we are looking at the feasibility of a migration utility that takes the services from WM and creates equivalents on the MB side. I totally understand that its not a magic switch(or even anything near to it) that can simply do the job.
I started initial analysis as part of the feasibility study and came to know that WM stores its flows in xml format (flow.xml). I guess MB also stores its flows in xml format (i guess in DB). We are looking at the possibilty of migrating atleast the simplest of flows (not involving EDI transformations).
My question is, is it worth attempting this exercise given the fact that even migrating the simplest of flows is of value per our needs. I need to also figure out the equivalent artifact (packakges --> nodes) mappings.
You should also be moving to Broker v7, not v6. Even v6.1 is not preferable here. In v7 you can create Patterns that represent the most common use cases of your webmethods integrations. You can then test and refine these Patterns and use them to crank out the rest of your actual implementations with a much smaller effort.
Moving this to the Broker forum... _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys.
