Is the command server running ?
And is there any more detail you can provide? _________________ Never let the facts get in the way of a good theory. |

You mean that the error message that says the command server isn't running might actually mean that the command server isn't running?
It's amazing. |

What error message saying the command server isn't running. I thought he said the error message was:

Is the command queue available and readable?
Tell us a little more about the errors you get. Have a look to the error logs of the QMgr. _________________ Regards

yes the command queue is available and i cleared all the messages from the queue. the error in the error log file of the queue managers is as follows:
12/24/10 15:01:21 - Process(2621598.24) User(eaiuser) Program(amqzlaa0_nd)
AMQ6184: An internal WebSphere MQ error has occurred on queue manager EAIBD4.
EXPLANATION:
An error has been detected, and the WebSphere MQ error recording routine has
been called. The failing process is process 2621598.
ACTION:
Use the standard facilities supplied with your system to record the problem
identifier, and to save the generated output files. Contact your IBM support
center. Do not discard these files until the problem has been resolved. |

pavan343,
the process you mention is an application agent. Do you find something about a process called "amqpcsea"?
Did you find this entry in the directory "/var/mqm/errors/" or in "/var/mqm/qmgrs/EAIBD4/errors/"?
When I start the command server, I get one of the following outputs:
Code: |
$ strmqcsv
AMQ8118: WebSphere MQ queue manager does not exist. |
Code: |
strmqcsv TEST
AMQ8195: WebSphere MQ command server already running. |
Code: |
endmqcsv TEST
WebSphere MQ command server ending.
WebSphere MQ command server ended.
strmqcsv TEST
WebSphere MQ command server started. |
By the way, tell us a little more about your operating system, MQ version etc.
Last but not least you wrote you would use "strmq csv" (with a blank before "csv"). I hope, this is a typo! _________________ Regards

Another idea:
What are the group memberships of the user "eaiuser"?
Use "id" or "id -a" (depending on the OS) to list the group membeships. _________________ Regards

If running on Windows, how was the qmgr started?
What version of MQ is running on the box?
Have fun _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Assuming that you are trying to start the command server under the same userid as the queue manager is running, and assuming that you immediately look in the logs to correlate the stop of the command server with any entries, have you tried stopping/starting the queue manager to see whether the command server starts automatically with the queue manager? _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

why you have started the command server manually ?
"By default, the command server is started automatically." Refer MQ Admin Guidev6.0 ...which also says for you
Code: |
"Starting the command server Depending on the value of the queue manager attribute, SCMDSERV, the command server is either started automatically when the queue manager starts, or must be started manually.
The value of the queue manager attribute can be altered using the MQSC command ALTER QMGR specifying the parameter SCMDSERV. By default, the command server is started automatically. If SCMDSERV is set to MANUAL, start the command server using the command: strmqcsv saturn.queue.manager where saturn.queue.manager is the queue manager for which the command server is being started." |
Have you grep on 2621598 process id ? What you get ?
Any FDC ? _________________ *Life will beat you down, you need to decide to fight back or leave it. |
