and couldn't find anything. I need this for Win2K MQ6.0.2.9, a command which can be invoked from a .BAT script which returns queue depth. I thought about rolling my own (I need off-the-shelf - my own pgm using API will not be accepted) but couldn't find anything in support packs or in the distribution which can deliver this info (Q.exe and amqsbcg browse the whole queue and don't yield a count, etc). This should be simple but it has me temporarily stumped. |

Is this a trick question? Does not echo DIS QL([INSERT QUEUE NAME HERE]) CURDEPTH | runmqsc [INSERT QUEUE MANAGER NAME HERE] > depth_check.txt not work for you? _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

MQ Explorer or MO71 should work beautifully there... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

I hope this is not for an application. These are better either long-running with an outstanding MQGET WAIT, or triggered (first, and then process all the messages until empty).
Awareness of queue depth is not needed for applications. If you are attempting to build your own system management tool..... there are plenty out there. MO71 can monitor event messages and take actions (run commands). You can set a queue event message on depth etc. |
