an API Exit functions within MQ itself but runs in the address space of the application performing the MQ API call. |
Roger. Does this mean that the message is moved to the user address so the exit can process it? That would be odd enough for a bindings-mode app; but odder indeed for a client-mode app. Or am I over-thinking this...
Can you cite the reference for this? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Yes. Actually, the message is moved from a MQ buffer to a MQME buffer to a client buffer (in the case of MQME).

True for bindings mode.
An API Exit runs where the queue manager is running. So, for client mode, that means the API Exit is running within the address space of the MCA (surrogate for the client). API Exits do not run within the address space of an application running in client mode.
Clear as mud?
