Hi
I'm planning on installing some required support packs on my Websphere MQ installation. However, before doing so, I wish to see which support packs are already installed on the system. Could someone suggest a command to list the support pack?
FYI, dspmqver does not list anything about support packs.
OS is zlinux.
MQ version is 7.0.1.1.
Any suggestions are appreciated. |

Punch dspmqver into the Info Centre search bar and look again, especially the -f Fields section...

Hi exerc,
I searched in the infocenter and studied the complete syntax for dspmqver command. The information that -f displays is displayed automatically without giving any option.
However, while going through the info pages, I found that the support pack info is saved in a file called 'ptf' on the box. Once I find the location of that file, I think I'll have the info I was searching for.

And did you not spot this:
"...Version, in the form V.R.M.F:
Where V=Version, R=Release, M=Modification,
and F=Fix pack..."
in the text? For example V7, R0, M1, F2

I agree with that. The command displayed 7.0.1.1 for me and I know it means the tool is at maintainance level 1.1.
However, what I was trying to find out was the different support packs that were applied. I want to apply MS03 support pack. I want to see if that has already been applied or not. So, I'm looking for a document that gives me the list of applied support packs. Unfortunately I still can't find it in the system.
Now, I apologize in advance if the 7.0.1.1 tells which support pack has been applied. I don't know how to deduce the support pack name from the maintainance level info. |

Doh! Sorry, read the original post very badly 
The long and the short of it, you don't apply SupportPacs, after all, MS03 (for instance) is just an application that runs against a queue manager. If you are concerned that you may have a SupportPac in use, that requires removal before upgrade etc., you should have it recorded somewhere - after all, you do use change management don't you?

There is no easy means of determining if IBM SupportPacs have been installed. Each of these product extensions will have its own instructions for installation and recommended location of the binaries. You may have your own local standards on where they are installed and how they are used.

All of the Eclipse based supportPacs that extend MQ Explorer should be listed in the normal Eclipse plugin or feature registry.
Everything else is catch as catch can - and as is mentioned, not very many supportPacs are actually 'installed' but more 'unpackaged'. |

Thank you guys. That was valuable feedback. I think I'll have to talk to the UNIX Systems admin if he is maintaing a change management document. I'm sure the installed support packs will be listed there.

After doing some research, the only command that came close to what I was looking for is as follows:
AIX: lslpp -L all
SOLARIS: pkginfo
LINUX (the one I'm using): rpm -qa|grep MQSeries
Decided to post this in case anyone else out there is looking for something similar. |

That's because SupportPacs are not part of the MQ product.
Your latest post mentioning package queries (rpm, pkginfo, .. etc.) will not help unless your SupportPac happens to have a proper installer. Generally, they don't.
What SupportPacs are required on your systems, by the way? I mean, the ones you referred to in your original post. |

MS03 support pack. It can be used to backup MQ configuration.
I've been able to dig up some config backup scripts for MQ. So, I'm planning on using either of these options. |
