to inform you that, since last week, the source system which feeds the data to our queues is sending the XML messages in wrong format.
due to which the messages are piling up the in the input queue and consuming the space under /var/mqm causing the mq services to go down as no space is available.
Now, we have informed this to the source system and they are working on this.
And the current max queue depth of that input queue is set to 10000000, which I suppose is a huge number (as generally we don't get those many messages), hence I want to reduce the size as we need, so that, in case if we have the similar case in future, we can stop piling of the messages and save the /var/mqm space.
But my questions here are that,
1) what happens if the no of messages reaches the max queue depth?
2) what happens to the messages coming after it?
3) and will there be any impact on the queue if it gets to its max queue depth?
Thanks all... |

Same thing that happens to any message whch can't be delivered to it's target queue.

Each message is treated individually so the same thing happens.

I would recommend that you test this in your local machine.
Create a local queue with maxdepth as 5 and start putting msgs.
You will get answers to all your queries and even more. _________________ Regards
