Does the perofrmance of message flow depend on the total number of the nodes in the flow or just the branch in wich the message goes thru ?!

if i have flow contains 30 nodes but 80 % of the time the message takes the pass of only 6 nodes, the other 24 affects the Flow performance ?!

I'm asking this question as i have to make up my mind to put a Statistics sub flow in the Main message flow or not as it may affect the performance
regarding that in the main flow there is check if the statistics part is enabled or no, 90 % of the time the message won't pass in that sub flow.

Large message flow takes longer time to deploy.
Message flow performance depends on the total number of nodes an input message passes thru and the complexity of those nodes.
