hello

am i right ?
you can develop client for as400 only with java ?
is there some API like AMI thet will help me develop client for as400 with cobol ?

p.s
ami still in suport ?
is there API like AMI for WIN LINUX or UNIX ?

There is a native cobol api for AS400. So you can communicate with the qmgr living on AS400 in cobol... from the same box. If you want to communicate to a qmgr that is not on the AS400 from the AS400 without having a qmgr on the AS400, you MUST use the java client.

Location: US: west coast, almost. Otherwise, enroute.

I believe AMI is no longer supported.

WMQ for iSeries, like WMQ for z/OS, can be MQ server only - not a client. Java being the exception to this rule.

Important Notice
After June 2003, IBM has no plans to enhance the AMI with any new functions or platforms.
IBM will however continue to support the AMI as described in the Technical Support section below.
We would recommend that customers do not use the AMI for any new projects and do not extend usage in existing projects.
This recommendation does not apply to functions shipped by other IBM products, such as DB2, that have made use of the AMI.
IBM is working to ensure that these products are able to provide the same functionality as today without the AMI.
