Good evening.
I ve a very basic knowledge of MQSeries but I don't know how to implement the MQ Series components
Our company wishes to install a MQ Series solution to set a perfect copy of a customer environment. Currently we use MSMQ.
Our solution works under Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP. Architecture is a bank back-office that supplies files to be integrated into MS SQL server.
What will be our MQ Series scheme? What is needed, what are the prerequisites ? How to setup services and queues?
I assume:
bank back-office = MQ Client.
SQL Server with all DB's = MQ Server
and I m missing the practical concept of setting up the MQ service, the queues definition between both machines... I just know it used TCP/Ip protocol.
Thanks in advance |

Those are questions way beyond the scope of this forum and have many, many possible answers based on the details of your site. You need skilled help from IBM or a similar consultancy source.

I wouldn't assume that, especially in a bank.

Again, this is best handled by a professional or after some formal training. There's no such thing as the set up. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

In which forum should I then insert this topic??
Details of my site? We have 1 server with MS SQL Server and one machine that will play the role of the back-office supplying files.

We are not a bank. We just need to establish a MQSeries channel between a machine that will play the role of a back-office to our SQL server. We don't have to reproduce the whole bank MQSeries architecture.

Ah ya really?? So that means I just setup a MQ client and server and that's all. There are no target machines to define etc... very strange.
I would have expected to obtain more help and to be provided more concept on that forum. Obviously it is not the right place. |

Vitor's point is that what you are asking is beyond the scope of this site. What you are asking is for someone with the requisite skills, knowledge, and experience to gather your requirements, in far more detail than you have given, produce a solution design, and probably provide developer support. Do you really think that could be done by postings on this site? _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

What I was attempting to convey is that what you're describing is a 3 month project requiring full time input. We're a bunch of volunteers and you're not going to get the kind of help & assistance you need from us. Moreover, people make a living from offering the kind of services you need and we can't undercut them. A lot of the posters here are them!

Yes, but there are a myriad of other site-specific questions and standards to consider.

You said bank back office. I assumed. I apologise.

No, there's no such thing as the set up, there are a near infinite number of ways to set this up. Starting with the simplistic and non-production strength example in the manual (which you could of course use) and heading on up.

We're a technical forum. We're good with technical question and specific design issues. We're not so good with "How should I use WMQ" questions but that's not who we are. We don't do training either. It's just the way it goes.
If you get stuck on a particular point you're welcome to repost, but I still think you'd be better off hiring an experienced WMQ person for 3 months to get it set up, or at least get some formal training before attempting what you're planning.
If you think I'm wrong, then go for it and I wish you all possible success. Don't forget you do have access to product support from IBM via the PMR system, if you don't touch IBM for assistance as I indicate above.
(That's not an endorsement or recommendation of IBM. Other consultancy services are available.) _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Your basic question seems to be 'how is MSMQ different from WebSphere MQ, or how is it the same?'
Both provide message queuing and message transport services.
The most significant difference for me (and my clients): MSMQ is a Windows-only solution (AFAIK), while WMQ runs on any/all platforms. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

with Vitor's comments.
And as you have stated that you already use MSMQ, so do you know whether you'll need MSMQ-Bridge? Do you have the knowledge and skills to integrate WebSphere MQ and MSMQ? Do you know the perils and the pitfalls of doing so? Just one example for you... _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |
