We use an in house file transfer in our company, that it can transfer only Files not messages. when the file reaches outbound location it uses a Transporter to send the file to the INBOUND Location. In this flow can a file convert to a message after it reaches the transporter.
How can we really differentiate for a File and a Message ?
Is File = Message?
Please answer this ASAP and Thanks for ur answers.
Thank you |

Are you asking if MQ FTE can/does convert the files into messages ?
MQFTE breaks up the files into pieces(if required due to size) and transfers each piece over MQ. At the other end it would again glue the pieces together and provide the file.
Effectively data over MQ is nothing but a message, but it will not be possible for an application to read these pieces and implement any business logic.
What are you trying to do ? Replace home grown soln. with MQFTE ? View MQFTE as a reliable and secure file transfer mechanism, don't complicate it with MQ.
Regards. |

No, File not equal Message
because WMQ max message lenght = 4MB(by default), but File size can be more then 4MB.. |

This might be one of the worst explanations of why a message is not a file that i've ever seen.
If the rule above was satisfied, ie the message length was unlimited or the size of a message was equal to the size of a file, would they be equal then? |

..and can also be a lot less. In the same way a message can be more than 4MB.
There is only data. It's stored in a file on a file system, or held in a message on a queue. It can move easily between these 2 states and many others. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
