Say there is are three servers that all host clustered queues a, b, and c and all take traffic equally. If server 3 has a hardware failure and goes away, is there a way of stopping other applications from trying to put to that queue? I'm assuming that the FR will still see the queues as enabled. Would the sending applications see that the channels are not running and try to send it to only the other two hosts? |

Why would you assume that?

Applications seldom, if ever, decide which instance of a clustered queue it sends messages to. This is left to the clustering software built into the qmgr.
If the sending application uses the MQI calls to inquire on channel status, then it is possible that an application could see that channels are not running. Having said that, re-read the sentence just before this one. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

The clustering manual tells you what happens in this circumstance, and it will no doubt answer a lot of other questions you may have lurking...wonderful things manuals
Assuming that your applications are not specifying a queue manager name (affinities are bad practice) the clustering algorithm will take care of it. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |
