A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
A time to war, and a time to peace;

But, you know, with the pager going off in the middle of the night because MQ is down with a 2033, who has time for any of that?

You still have a pager, how very quaint.
As for the 2033 you need to change the app developer

I still say "I got paged" even though it was a text message to my cell phone.

The original app developers were fine. They got rid of them to supposedly save money. Its the new developers they keep bringing in like a game of musical chairs that is the problem.

I don't understand the thought process of the 2033 alarmists. It just doesn't occur to them to contact the other app and ask if they got the request, did they process it and did the send the reply. Do they contact the phone company and ask why is the phone system down when they don't get an expected phone call? Do they call Yahoo and ask them to turn on the email when their buddy didn't reply to their last email?

Some habits are hard to break. This is more harmless than many of mine.

Peter Peter

You should know by now that with any environment with MQ the first port of call for any problem is going to be MQ!!!

I mean we all know that sometimes MQ can cause problems but how many times have we gone back to them saying "your application ........"

On a funny note..

MQ Message pick-up lines...

Your queue or mine?
What's your sign-bit?
Is that a COA in your message descriptor, or are you just glad to see me?
What's a message like you doing in a queue like this?
You look like you've got a good message header on your shoulders.
With your payload and my routing information, we could really go places!
Is this buffer taken?
You remind me of my first QMgr.
You make my HBINT go wild!
Does this channel go all the way to Chicago?
I must have expired because I'm looking at an angel!
Your message segments are in all the right places!
I'll bet our code pages are compatible.
Don't tell anyone, but I'm a message channel secret-agent.
Wanna be in my cluster?

MQ Message rejections...

I'm GET Disabled.
I could never commit to a message like you.
Come back when you have a higher priority.
Not even if you were the last message in the queue!
Your backout-count is showing.
I'm in a proprietary format and you could never parse me.
You are a Dead Letter entry waiting to happen.
Locked by another process.
Don't let the message exit hit you on the ass on the way out!
You sure are persistent, aren't you?
User-defined format? Right! Like I haven't heard THAT before!
You're ASCII and I'm EBCDIC. It would never work out.
You've expired and don't even know it.
Sorry, no available BROWSE handles.
You've obviously mistaken me for an event message.
GET WAIT forever, buddy!
