Hi,

we have a requester/server setup with our qmgr and other company qmgr. When setup made it was running fine. But later we found that requester channel is in not found state. No error found in logs.

we started it manually and it is running fine.

I studied that we can't trigger a requester channel(dint get it exactly) & we need to code where in if a requester channel goes down have it to auto start.

But what i dint get is, after what time interval requester goes down? any parameter on qmgr which affects it? does its partner channel(eg.svr or sdr) or MCA has any influence on this channel?

Any inputs or guidance to any thread is appreciated. I browsed for more info on this but not so fruitful.

Do your system requirements state that when messages arrive on the SVR's xmitq, that the channel should start? If so, then consider setting the SVR to be triggered via its xmitq. This will entail giving the SVR a CONNAME if it does not already have one.

If (for reasons I did not understand) SVR/RQSTR is not able to be triggered from the SVR side then perhaps SDR/RCVR is the implementation needed to meet that requirement?

I assume DISCINT is responsible for the channel coming to an end normally. Check your /var/mqm/qmgrs/QMNAME/errors/AMQ*LOG

Let me say waht i got from your question...

messages will be available on remote end(assume svr chl) but when a requester channel initiates a call, those messages will be moved over the channel and reached at the requester end. And once the svr chl DISCINT over, communication path ends normally.

to start it again requester channel has to start manually or needed to be coded to repeat the above . am i right?

the other way as you said, with conname makes the svr connection channel trigger when messages arrives. I hope if above is possible then we can go with SDR/RCVR itself..using requester doesnt addup any thing.

But other qmgr is not with us, with external client. And I will check your suggestion with my other end MQ partner.

I think this is correct. However please do check the manual and test this youself. I do not have recent experience of these matters.

I don't understand, sorry.

Do let us know what you find. The overall system requirements and architecture are owned by someone. Contact that someone and ask them to explain.

For a good description of how the server-end of a channel starts, take a look at the WMQ Intercommunications manual. Search for requester-server channel.
