Dear All,
From this morning all our WTX Maps in PROD are failing with this error.
Code: |
''Map failed - IO Error 179 - Unable to do API initialization. (179)'' |
I really mean it when i say nothing has been changed recently.
These maps have been working fine for several months.
All binary permissions and environment settings have been verified. We are unable to spot any anomaly so far.
The closest i could get to this on the net was this un-answered post from a very long time ago.

We are using WTX 8.1.0.4 with WMB 6.0.0.6 on AIX 5.2. The Java version in use
Code: |
# ./java -version
java version "1.4.2"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2)
Classic VM (build 1.4.2, J2RE 1.4.2 IBM AIX build ca142-20070708 (SR9) (JIT enabled: jitc))
|
We have restarted the Broker and cleared all semaphores but still the problem persists.
A User Trace of the Message Flow indicates that the error occurs when the message flow invokes the WTX Map. No other useful information is conveyed from the trace apart from the error message.
Thanks in Advance. |

Someone must have changed *something* if it worked yesterday and it doesn't work now.
This looks more like an issue with WTX than with broker, in that it looks like a linkage problem between Broker software and WTX software.
Did someone forget to mount the file share holding the WTX engine? Did the WTX engine lock up and leave hanging semaphores?
You probably should open a PMR. Take and examine a service trace first, review all of your WTX configuration first, examine the system log first. |

Thanks for the pointers Jeff.
We have tried to isolate that *something* but we are unable to spot anything off. We have two brokers in our environment (Active-Active on a seperate LPAR) and the other Broker + WTX is healthy.
The Service Trace does not convey anything significant and it looks like the error appears when the DTX Plugin Node attempts to invoke the WTX Map.
The WTX lil files and the installation is on the same file system as the brokers. So we can safely rule out the file system mounting as other non-WTX message flows are healthy.
If the WTX Transaction was stuck in in-flight state, it did not write a abend/or a dmp file.
Syslogs and Broker logs are clean complicating things even more.
We now have a PMR open to investigate this issue.
Thanks. |
