No, it's a services offering, written by some IBMers from ISSW and tailored for specific environments. Your IBM account team should have the right routes into these guys, if not send them my way  |

Alas poor BERNARD - it was a brief life but a merry one! |
I dont think BERNARD has gone altogether, as repository is now file based for broker, it might be using BERNARD itself. |

Yep, he's there, watching over..
His digital incarnation is no longer used. To be clear, we're not using Cloudscape/Derby or anything like that.
There is no internal database provider; the configuration is stored on flat files on the filesystem in a directory underneath the broker's workpath, in our own internal XML format. |

I believe that dk27 was speculating that the path to the directory under the broker's workpath might include BERNARD as an element. |

Unfortunately it's something dull ("repository")... but if you start missing him, you can always create some symbolic links 
Which reminds me, the default configuration wizard now uses rather shorter names (MB7BROKER and MB7QMGR), which should help save your fingers. |

For broker runtime, is the d/b req removed altogether or is it optional? I would assume it is not likely to be optional since it doesnot make sense to run 2 different runtime data handling mechanism.
And the broker data will be stored in flat files? Is it going to be as efficient as d/b? |

Using a broker system database is not an option in v7 (it really doesn't buy you anything).
With this and a number of other improvements behind the scenes, it should make the whole administrative performance a lot more efficient (in terms of speed and storage utilisation).
Also, don't forget that you can also free up the resource that your DBMS was taking up (unless you need it for user data). |

Thanks Matt,
We have some brokers using d/b tables(actually on broker db itself) to store environment related user data. Is there anyway to do this using in V7 without relying on table? If this is possible then we can save a lot of money in oracle d/b by upgrading to V7.

There's nothing that is stopping you from continuing to access the same data using the same datasource.
It's just that Broker won't be doing it any more. |

Can someone post a link to any articles describing how to configure WMB 7 (i.e. Create Broker, Queue Manager, etc) ?
