I've installled MQ 6 on a Windows Server 2003 box just installing MQ Explorer and accepting the default options during install (I've also installed the latest fix pack from the IBM website). When I try to start the queue I get the following:

****************************************
* Command: amqmdain qmgr start QM_london
****************************************
WebSphere MQ queue manager 'QM_1' starting.
AMQ5615: Default objects cannot be created: CompCode = 2 Reason = 2059.
exitvalue = 71

I don't know anything about MQ, I just need to get it installed and the queue started for the time being, any help would be appreciated.

Have a look HERE, it may well have a bearing on your issue.

Hi exerk, thanks for the suggestion, we already have a user on the domain, I tried starting the queue while logged in as them but theat didn't make any difference, neither did setting the MQ service to run under them, although I had overlooked that last one. Any other ideas of what I could look at? As these are only test machines we don't have IBM support here.

Hi mqjeff, I haven't run any commands manually and wasn't aware I needed to to get the default queue to start?

There is no default queue.... There may be a default queue manager. However that needs to be specified at creation...
A queue lives on a queue manager and does not "run". The states are open for output, open for input, get/put allowed / inhibited , triggered and empty/full Read up on MQ the library page referenced in the links on top for the "MQPrimer" which gives a neophite some understanding of the architecture... Have some fun

Okay. So that message you showed is from MQExplorer.

So in MQ EXplorer, you have done something to CREATE the queue manager called "QM_london"?

The one you are trying to start?

I just did a typical MQ 6 install and ran through the prepare MQ wizard just accepting the default options I didn't create the queue manually.

I tried creating a new queue but only got:
****************************************
* Command: crtmqm Q_mgr
****************************************
AMQ8101: WebSphere MQ error (893) has occurred.
exitvalue = 71
