I have 2 aix boxes with below configuration
Code:

box1                                box2
===                                ====
cfmgr1                              cfmgr2
cfmgr1qmgr                       cfmgr2qmgr
brk1                                  brk2
brk1qmgr                           brk2qmgr

idea is 2 run one instance of config manager on either of the box and both the brokers associated with active config manager running.

now i was able to associate brk1 and brk2 with cfmg1 and deploy components.

when i stop cfmgr1 and start cfmgr2 and try to create a new broker domain for brk1 and deploy a flow, i get error

Code:
BIP2045E: Broker 'brk1' running on WebSphere MQ queue manager 'brk1qmgr' did not process a deployment message, because it was addressed to a broker with a different identifier.
This message is typically issued after an attempt has been made to assign the broker to a second, or reinitialized, Configuration Manager.

my question i how can i reference the same broker instance from 2 different confiuration managers ? may not be same time but in active/passive mode

thanks for ur help.

A broker can only have 1 Config Manager.

Look at Support Pack IC91 on how to make a Config Manager Highly Available.

In V6.1 it is possible to reassign a broker to another Config Manager, but a given broker can only be assigned to a single active Config Manager at any one time.

Of course, in V7 this situation will not exist.

Thanks for the reply.

In V6 how can i switch a broker from one configuration manager to another configuration manager ?

My requirement is also to have only one active configuration manager for given list of brokers at any point of time. its just that if a config manager goes down on a box, i need to quickly turn the config manager on another box and hook up the brokers.

My understanding is to do this i need to have configuration manager on both the boxes with same name and same queue manager and repository copied.

Not sure what the exact steps are for the same. (like syncing up respoistory)

One more time...

In 6.1, you could use the Adopt a Broker feature to assign a broker to a new CM. You would not do this for H.A., you would do this if you lost the original CM for some reason.

You do not have the option of misusing the Adopt a Broker feature in WMB 6.0.

Or start planning to use WMB 7 as soon as its released, because that version does not have a Config Manager anymore.
