In Websphere process server, is it possible to send attachments like (MS word, excel etc..,) along with a long running business process. For example, if a human task component is part of a business process, then, is it possible to send back attachments as a response from the HT component ?

Thanks,
V.

Hi venky,

Rather than burdening the Process server, you should ideally be putting the document in your document management repository, and providing a webService URL or so to access the file at any time from the process.

Which document repository are you using ?

How does providing a web service URL help here ? can you please elaborate/provide a link with an example to support your statement ?

Thanks, V.

Hi venky,

The following redbook should offer some guidance.
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/SG247477.html?Open

I'm not sure if this redbook used web services, but I'm sure it can be done in that way too. Your process would only hold an identifier to the actual document in the repository. The HT page would display the name/icon of the document, and on clicking of the same would open the document using the services exposed by the CM.

It can be done, we've done a similar POC earlier this year for a customer.

Search developerWorks, you'll find some more related articles.

Regards.
