Hi,
In the TCP stanza of the qm.ini file, I have set KeepAlive=Yes, and then recycled the queue manager. I have not seen any affects of the KeepAlive setting and do not know if it is working or being ignored. The server people say the keep alive is on and is currently set at the default.
I searched for information on whether or not the qm.ini file is case sensitive in a unix environment but did not find any conclusive statements on the subject.
Will any case variation of KeepAlive work on UNIX, and do extra spaces matter, such as:
KeepAlive=yes
KeepAive=Yes
KeepAlive = Yes
KeepAlive=YES
KEEPALIVE=YES
...
?
I have seen all of the above either in the docs or in the forum.
In general, if any, what parts of the qm.ini file on a unix box are case sensitive?
Thanks for your help.

We have this:
Its case sensitive.
You then need to find out what the Keep Alive time is for the O/S. Most systems default to 2 hours. We set ours to 15 minutes. _________________ Peter Potkay

The keyword KeepAlive is not case sensitive, nor are most (if not all) of the keyword parameters in channels-type stanzas.
The setting Y/N is also not case-sensitive.
Howeve, many parameters in qmgr-type stanzas are case-sensitive.
Since there is an inconsistency in how WMQ checks both the keyword and setting, it would be best to make entries in the ini file exactly as written in the manual. |

Maybe its changed recently, but Yes would not work for us and YES did. Your advice of following the manuals exactly is important. _________________ Peter Potkay

I used the following on AIX box and it is working. The MQ version is 6.0.2.6

For a software like MQ which has been there for more than 15 years, we don't know whether MQ read the latest config file properly. IBM could have easily displayed all the attributes that it is using (like Oracle DB), in the error log. |
