Can anyone assist me with this parsing issue.

I imported the following COBOL copybook and create a message for XML and one for COBOL.

01 INPUT-RECORD.
03 LINE-ITEMS-COUNT PIC XX.
03 LINE-ITEMS-COUNT-9 PIC 99 REDEFINES LINE-ITEMS-COUNT.
03 LINE-ITEMS OCCURS 0 TO 5 TIMES
DEPENDING ON LINE-ITEMS-COUNT-9.
05 DESC PIC X(2).

I use this test msg:

<TESTXML>
<LINE-ITEMS-COUNT>01</LINE-ITEMS-COUNT>
<LINE-ITEMS>
<desc>AB</DESC>
</LINE-ITEMS>
</TESTXML>

After parsing the msg using the XML message I have a trace on Root and I see this...

(0x1000008)MRM = (
(0x3000014)LINE-ITEMS-COUNT = NULL
(0x3000014)LINE-ITEMS = NULL
(
(0x3000001)DESC = 'AB'
)
)

So why does it parse the LINE-ITEMS-COUNT and the group item LINE-ITEMS as NULL???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

found the answer to my own question for once.

I guess when you use the import function to import a COBOL copybook if you use names like THIS-IS-MY-FIELD, WMQI replaces the '-' with '_'.

I didn't notice and therefore when I sent a message with <THIS-IS-MY-FIELD>....etc the parser didn't find it in the MRM and so the result was NULL.
