Hi everyone,

Do you guys know if the Authorization Specification Tables are on exam 095?

To me it seems more of a reference table that shows what access MQ objects require. These aren't objects an administrator is able to manipulate right? These are just tables that indicate the authorization that is required for each call right? Just curious because I just read that section in the System Admin manual and couldn't figure out these tables and how they help me as an admin.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

As administrator, you need to allow the appropriate access for users who are not in the MQ group (whatever is the equivalent on your platform). For instance, everybody must have "connect" access to do anything. Then, can a user or group of user PUT to a queue or not, can they GET (destructively or non-destructively). On "Open Systems", you use the commands "dspmqaut" and "setmqaut" to display and manipulate the authorisations. So, yes, I would have thought those authorisations are relevant - whether they are in the test I couldn't say.

Good luck!

Hi,

Ok so these authorizations in the table are all refering to the setmqaut command. I just found it confusing because instead of just displaying the "-browse" or whatever is required for that object, they show the prefix MQZAO and MQOO, etc. How do you cross reference what these command translate to when using the setmqaut command?

Ie. PASS_IDENTITY_CONTEXT is what?

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, they are not particularly clear. The context authority stuff is to allow privileged users to change, e.g. the user who put the message. The only use I've seen of this when you a move a message from one queue to another, but want to retain the original PUTing user ID. Not your usual MQ application at all.

So, probably your best bet is to just look at the setmqaut stuff, that's probably all you'd be expected to know. Still, not having done the test, I wouldn't know

Again, good luck!
