I have a server connection channel between 2 servers, one being the application and the other being the MQ server.
After 1 hr of being idle, the channel is getting disconnected automatically. with the below error:
05/23/09 09:00:21
AMQ9213: A communications error for TCP/IP occurred.
EXPLANATION:
An unexpected error occurred in communications.
ACTION:
The return code from the TCP/IP(select) [TIMEOUT] 20 seconds call was 11
(X'B'). Record these values and tell the systems administrator.
Here are the channel properties:
display channel(PROFILE.CLNTCONN.CHL)
2 : display channel(PROFILE.CLNTCONN.CHL)
AMQ8414: Display Channel details.
CHANNEL(XXX.CLNTCONN.CHL) CHLTYPE(SVRCONN)
TRPTYPE(TCP) DESCR( )
SCYEXIT( ) MAXMSGL(4194304)
SCYDATA( ) HBINT(0)
SSLCIPH( ) SSLCAUTH(REQUIRED)
KAINT(AUTO) MCAUSER( )
ALTDATE(2009-05-25) ALTTIME(11.08.54)
SSLPEER()
SENDEXIT( )
RCVEXIT( )
SENDDATA( )
RCVDATA( )
Wht would be the reason for it?? |

Something like a firewall closing the connection. Speak to your network people to see if anything behaves like that.
You'll also find a number of discussions in here on the subject, which you may find informative. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

How does this tie up with:
itsme_001 wrote: |

I'm also confused by this:

a) Was there a question here?
b) If you'd disconnected the connection, why are you apparently surprised by an error message saying "CONNECTION_BROKEN"? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

in the first case I manually disconnected the connection, but in the second instance, the connection got automatically disconnected after 1hr. I had to reconnect after every 1 hr. |

What system hanged? MQ? The o/s? What error was logged? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

These errors are saying that connectivity between your application and Qmgr got disrupted.
Have you checked that your firewall setup is fine? _________________ Regards

Do you mean that the client o/s got hanged? Or just the client application?

Where did you find these errors? I'm guessing on the client platform... _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

I meant that the client application got hanged, and later i found the error messages in the same client machine error logs.
here is the new error msg recorded:
05/27/09 20:09:20
AMQ9209: Connection to host '172.25.134.64' closed.
EXPLANATION:
An error occurred receiving data from '172.25.134.64' over TCP/IP. The
connection to the remote host has unexpectedly terminated.
ACTION:
Tell the systems administrator.

So you've checked, and you're absolutely, completely certain that there's nothing in your network that closes a connection after an hour? Not
Quote: |
"I've checked and it can't be ---- because it only disconnects inactive connections after an hour and mine is active |
but nothing that closes connections? You're certain?
Because if that's the case, and you're certain that's the case, you should raise a PMR because the channel is incorrectly determining connection status. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Ah - I'd missed the fact that you were using v5.3. My bad.
So no PMR then. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
