If you tell us in what context you've seen the term. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I think I found it. Semi-persistenceis same as NPMCLASS(HIGH). The non-persistent messages which servive a normal queue manager restart. |

i personally do not like this "semi - persistent". a message is either persistent or not. everything else, like npmclass(high) is not a message attribute but belongs to the queue.
in addition, the manual reads "The queue manager attempts to retain non-persistent messages on this queue over a queue manager restart." Attempts? So it is not assured? uh..... nice try _________________ Regards, Butcher |

It is certainly not an "official" or "approved" term. |

You have to admit that "semi-persistent" has a nice ring to it I like semi- better than randomly-persistent or occasionally-persistent... _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Semi-persistent is like semi-pregnant. Either you are you are not! _________________ Peter Potkay

"semi persistent" is not a term that is mentioned anywhere in the MQ docs. Let's NOT use it. Stick to Perisistent and Non-Persistent. NPMCLASS provides a different Quality of Service (QoS) for non-persistent messages, like other variations of QoS that exist in MQ. _________________ Glenn |
