We are running WMB V6 on AIX
Here is an incident that triggered the question below from our production support team. They were asked to deploy a bar file to a broker (BrkA). But they deployed it to BrkB by mistake. The mistake was recongnised right away and the deployment was done to brkA.
However the existing bar file on brkB was overwritten by the new bar file. and need to be restored. The time was 2 am in the morning and they have to call up the developer to find out exactly what version was the bar file that get over written by the deployment mistake.
The normal procedure for our production support is to take a backup before they make any changes. In case anything goes wrong, they can just restore. So their question to me is
1. Is there a way to backup an existing running bar file before they deploy a new one on top of it ?
I am not aware of anyway on V6. Not sure if there is any in 61.
Any suggestion or experience on how we can better handle this is greatly appreciated.

We have the bar files labelled in our source code repository. The labels in use in production are published and available to ops support, updated (obviously) as part of the release process.
We also have the various source code components labelled so can recreate a given bar file, but that's considered outside the remit of overnight support.
Other solutions and procedures are equally valid. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Remember that the running configuration of a broker may consist of a number of different bar file deployments. AFAIK there's no way to extract a snapshot of the current broker configuration.
I wait to be corrected on this. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
