Please do a "dis chl(<channel name>) all" on the sending and receiving side, then post the results.

Is there any reason you don't want to use DISCINT, and HBINT in the sender side?

Although it's strange that ADOPTMCA didn't work. Could you post the definition in your QM.INI on the receiving Queue Manager?

And did you restart the receiving queue manager after you changed the QM.INI?

Hi dgolding

In both sides, display chstatus(<channel name>) gives "CHANNELS STATUS NOT FOUND ERROR".

I restarted the Queue Manager after applying ADOPTMCA.

One last try

The channels on the sending and receiving side are inactive. t should be possible to start the sender channel with no problem

1) Please CUT and PASTE your channel definitions for the sending an receiving queue managers, and include in your reply (mask out your IP address if you want);

2) Please CUT and PASTE your QM.INI definition, and include this;

3) Why don't you use HBINT on the sending side, also DISCINT?
DISCINT will shut down the sending (and then the receiving) channel cleanly when there is nothing to transmit after (for example) 100 minutes. Then, if you set up your sender channel correctly to use channel initiation, when a message arrives, it will start automatically when a message arrives in the transmit queue.

The root of the probelm is that the RCVR is not going Inactive. We gotta get that guy to go Inactive, and all your problems will go away.

I would suggest setting the heartbeat interval to 120 (2 minutes) on BOTH the SNDR and RCVR, then wait about 5 minutes. Drop another message into a remote queue that will send it over this channel and I bet it will work.

If you often find yourself in the situation where you need to start up that SNDR before the heartbeat interval will expire and set the RCVR to inactive, tehn employ AdoptMCA, which will allow you fire up your sender before the RCVR goes inactive.

Use both AdoptMCA and Heartbeat. But before you waste to much more time, try setting both sides of the channel to have the same value for Heartbeat and let us know how you make out.

Is the Listner running on the RCVR side???
