At the top of this page is a link to the Info Center, where you will be able to find what you are looking for.

I believe you are asking how programmers interact with MQ, yes?

If so, WMQ comes with a set of application programming interface (API) calls, like MQCONNect, MQOPEN, MQGET, MQPUT, ...

WMQ also comes with higher-level interfaces, like .NET, Java, JMS.

Most of WMQ is platform-neutral; that is, WMQ behaves similarly on iSeries, z/OS, Windows and UNIX. Experience on one platform transfers easily to others. Some aspects of WMQ, like installation, is platform-specific.

A good starting point for understanding WMQ is found at http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg247128.html?Open. While this document refers to WMQ V6, it provides a substantial foundation for understanding the WMQ product and its capabilities.
