Using MQI 2.1 Win, with a Java Plugin Node, setting the MQMD MsgID field on an outgoing message appears to have no affect even when the associated MQOutput node has "Generate New MsgID" unchecked. When the message hits the queue, a different MsgId appears.
I am familiar with the MQSeries Java JMS classes. With them, there is a method to set the Message ID, but it is just for fun, as it is always overriden with another value when a message is sent out. Is something like that going on here with the MQI java nodes?
As usual, there is the possiblity that I am misinterpreting the behaviour of my code.

Sorry, I want to replace the above question with a slightly different question.
Now, I don't want to set the MsgId, I just want to use the same message ID that was in the incomming message. But still it seems to assign a new messageID even when the MQOutput node has not been set to do that. Here are my steps:
1. make a new Message based on the incomming message
2. detach the element under /XML and create what I need there
3. create a new assemly based on the input assembly and the new message
4. propagate to the MQOutput node with settings:
New Message ID: unchecked
Message Context: Pass All

I have found by using a trace node that the MQOutput node will change the MsgId value until I uncheck Request on the Request Tab.
Do I have to send a datagram to leave the MsgId unaltered?
