hi, everybody

I have a question about how does MQ make hot-standby?

Whenever one is shut down, another can takeover it.

'Cause every client set up a channel and params of IP and port, they keep connection with one qmgr. I don't want to change Ip setting manually to connect the standby when primary shut down.

I've added two qmgrs into a cluster, but how can i make a vitual IP for all of the clients and how can i achieve hot-standby?

You've asked a lot of questions on a wide topic here, and have some topics confused it seems.

To summarise:

WMQ doesn't make hot standby - you do. This is usually done with HA software or the WMQv6 backup queue manager facility, which is a kind of warm standby.

This is nothing to do with a client losing connection and needing to re-establish it. Client connections can be lost to a running queue manager, as the number of posts regarding 2009 & 2019 reason codes indicate. Again, you provide the failover, typically by coding your application to expect this to happen once in a while and providing a connection table.

If you can use the 2 queue managers in a cluster as the multiple targets for a client then a) it's a pointlessly small cluster b) there's something very odd about your topolgy.

Enjoy your research on these topics.
