Hi,

I tried the flow (fileinput-->emailoutput) for sending a USS file to lotusnotes mail as an attachment. The USS file is full of EBCDIC chars (but can be readable in USS). The lotusnotes mail is getting the attachment with EBCDIC code, which can't be in readable format.

So, I planned to use Compute node in between FileInput node and EmailOutput node, which converts the file to ASCII format.

How the inputroot to be CASTed in the esql?

Also note me how to read the element into EmailOutput Node.

How the esql code look like for this task?

the body of the message will be in EBCDIC yes? and therefore you can cast as a bitstream the incoming "body" of the message i.e your EBCDIC stream to the ASCII CCSID and Encoding of the platform you wish to send to. Look in the help for the quirks and rules on ASBITSTREAM function. Then set that as the output body for your email node

Of course, there's no reason to do this when all you have to do is make sure the OutputRoot.Properties are correct.

Mnay Thanks Mr.Smith and mqjeff for your quick replies.

I've a doubt over here: Are there fixed values of CCSID and encoding for platforms? Also, I'm not sure, Lotus notes come under which platform?

Could you please guess for me the possible CCSID and encoding values?

Thank you.

Much easier... ask your partners (endpoints) MQ admin for them...

you can use Unicode 1208 for output.

Your mainframe propably have:
Encoding = 273
CodedCharSetId = 424

But question if you need somebody to read the data from your attachment. Simple ASBITSTREAM function conversion will not convert numeric values - you only will see converted string fields.
Much better to use Message set (you can create it directly from copy-book).

no really

it can be 500, 037, 273, 277, 278, 280, 284, 285, 297, 871, 1047...

but my point was about loosing unreadable data - especially numeric.
