So the requirement for skilled WMQ administrators is just going to dry up is it? Considering the large number of enterprises that are totally reliant on it, I can't see that happening any time soon...but I'd be interested to hear your logic, or in fact anything that might be relevant to this thread.

I always believed MQ is a part of middleware architecture for enterprises...

Wonder how would one suvive with a middleware job having message broker and not MQ..

I am 3+ now and people have either MQ+WAS or MQ+MB or plain MQ develpment. My problem is that I do not know anything more than MQ (and MB administration). When I show up for an interview people start asking me what do u know other than MQ? And MQ performence tuning jobs are hard to comeby and even if they come they would need somemore performence tuning achivements from me..

Just tell them that you have never needed to tune it because you alweays set it up correctly in the first place

Now seriously....I have been doing MQ work for the last 10 years I adminsiter Qmgrs on z/OS, Winders, iSeries and Unix, but that only covers about 25% of my work week. I have other z/OS duties that take up a lot more time. I know what you are saying though, my advice is to try and diversify but keep on being up to date on MQ.

Too bad an answer to give in and intervieww.. geeks u know what, I told him of 2 or three scenarios and later on added this thing at the end and the interviewer said, "thanks, we will get back to you." .. but everyone knows nothing works and everyday u face a new challenge out there to make things work.
