Hi,
Has anyone had any issues with reply timeouts with aggregation?
Does a 3 second timeout really mean 3 seconds?
We have a requirement to take a reply and pad it to the expected length if there is a partial or even no response from the server systems. I am testing this by stopping the processing and sending of reply messages at one or all of the backends. However I am not seeing anything arrive from the 'timeout' terminal. It does go via the normal route when I allow the reply to eventually arrive. I have checked by tracing that the control message arrives ok.
Any suggestons?
Thanks,
Vicky |

Vicky,
3 seconds does mean 3 seconds - give or take a few milliseconds for the OS to swap processes in and whatnot.
Is there anything in your event log complaining about any errors?
My best guess would be that the control message isn't arriving ok. Or perhaps the timout is occuring but you're throwing an exception downstream which is rolling the timeout back. Again, the error log would show this. |

Thanks for the quick & expert reply
Looking at service trace I could see that the control message was arriving, and there was some mention of a timeout. It would not surprise me if there was an exception downstream but I have all the failure and catch terminals connected up.
I'll add in some extra trace nodes (and remove any dodgy compute nodes) & see if I can get to the bottom of it, otherwise I'll be under pressure to raise it with IBM tomorrow - sorry!
Cheers,
