I am not sure if anybody has seen similar symptoms before. We have message flows running on WMB V6 in AIX . Once in a while the message flow seems to be doing nothing. We can only tell by no change on the curdepth of the Input queue. We use vmstat to look at AIX, the both CPU and memory usage looks fine.
In some situations, if we waited long enough (a few minutes), the flow continues to get messsage off (at normal pace of 1 or 2 per second). So we think that perhaps the Dataflow engine is just busy. We know that the flow has no DB access. So it should not be waiting on DB access.
But in other situations, we have to stop and start the flow to get it running again after waiting for too long (7 -10 minutes).
I am not the developer. So this may very well be bugs in the flow. But I feel helpless that there is nothing I can do to tell what the broker is doing
when some one tell us that the flow is not moving message.
The thing that I normally do
1. broese the syslog to look for error
2.browse MQ log to look for error
3. Do vmstat to see if the system is busy
I am looking for soem advice on what else I can do under that situation and is there any reason why the flow is stuck. |

Your eg hangs? do you see any core dump?
As you know, rebooting broker might help.
Stop the broker.
Stop the WebSphere MQ listener, Channel, QM.
Restart the WebSphere MQ QM, Channel, listener.
Restart the broker |
