I'm looking for some suggestions on a particular design feature we would like to incorporate in the message broker layer of the application.

In WMQSI we are attempting to use an external data source to load what we have called configuration data, for a particular message. This configuration data would only change when the environment changes.

There is a particular section in the XML document, which is being created from a CWF positional data structure, that indicates some "environment" data elements that the recipient of the XML requires to perform it's job.

So far I have 3 ideas:

1. Have the sender of the CWF message include this in it's message and WMQSI simply map it.
- this is somewhat acceptable, however in the case of multiple different senders it becomes a requirement of each sender.

2. Hard code some values in the message flow..
- not great for migrating to different application environments, because we will have to change it.
- also, just a plain bad idea.

3. Use a database node and store the configuration in a db2 table.
- decent solution, but we would have licensing issues, and potentially performance issue?

4. Write a plugin node to access an external file during the message flow processing.
- good/bad ????

Is there any built-in functionality available in WMQSI to access an external file from a flow? Can this file be cached, such as a configuration file normally would be? Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Jason.

Sorry folks, it should say I have 4 ideas. Somehow the 3 morphed into 4.

what do you mean by licensing issues ?
DB2 is provided with WMQSI in the same package ...
You can create your own instance for some transcodification tables (or other).

I understood that DB2 was not to be used for any purpose other than the Broker Database, Configuration Manager DB and MRM DB. If this is not true then the DB2 solutions no longer becomes an issue, unless we feel ODBC doesn't support the throughput we are trying to acheive...which hasn't been defined yet.

I will check the planning guide for licensing parameters.

Thanks.
