How do you delete Elements from Syntax tree using Java plugins/Custom nodes?

There is the detach function, but I believe that does not destroy the memory of the tree objects it just removes the link from the parent Element to this element.

There does not seem to be any other delete functions.

Do you do it by setting the Element Value to a null object similar to ESQL??

Anyone have correct syntax for this?

I would assume that the detached tree would be garbage collected unless you made it reachable by re-attaching it to another reachable element?
