CSD is a Corrective Service Disk ... they're just patches...

In AIX you can apply from SMITTY, in NT you just need to run the executable...

Normally each CSD has a readme file associatted. There you will find the description of the problems corrected.

It's good practice to have CSD applieds

Look at:

Amar,

Go to the MQ support site and mavigate through the software and platform options. Then look at the 'Details' link to see the readme for the CSD's. Sometimes these are just collections of small fixes that won't affect you, but I would recommend installing the latest WMQI v2.1 CSD as it seems to cover quite a lot.

Vendors will always get bugs/problems in their product, when they find these and fix them these get bundled into CSDs. If you keep tabs on the CSDs then you can apply them and make sure your application is as up to date as possible! If you're not getting any problems then you don't really need to apply the CSD, however if you get a problem arising it's always a good first to be on the latest CSD level ifyou go to IBM for help!

Is the place to go to download CSDs.

You're on version MQv5.2 so CSD05 should be right
As for WMQIv2.1, CSD03 is the most recent. Next to each link there is a details link - this takes you to a listing of all fixes contained in the CSD..

IBM have started to deliver significant new function in the MQSI CSDs (as well as the traditional fixes).

This makes new functions available more quickly than waiting for new versions, but does bring the risk that CSDs might not be as stable and that implementing them might cause some incompatibility problems.
