Hi all,
I m having a strange problem w MQ..
Here is scenario.
I have a MQ client which connects to MQ server(obv..). they are on different machines.
I m running MQ v5.3 CSD 12 (server).
the client does a MQ get.
Now here is the strange part.
if my message size is 128KB i get MQRC 2008 error which is connection broken.
if my message size is 56Kb , everything goes fine , no connection broken.
So my question is , is this a problem w the network or MQ?.
The link bw is 64 KB.
Any thoughts on this as welcome. _________________ Thimk |

2009 is connection broken.
2008 is
Reason Code 2008 x'7D8'
MQRC_CHAR_ATTRS_TOO_SHORT
For MQINQ calls, CharAttrLength is not large enough to contain all of the character attributes for which MQCA_* selectors are specified in the Selectors parameter. The call still completes, with the CharAttrs parameter string filled in with as many character attributes as there is room for. Only complete attribute strings are returned: if there is insufficient space remaining to accommodate an attribute in its entirety, that attribute and subsequent character attributes are omitted. Any space at the end of the string not used to hold an attribute is unchanged. An attribute that represents a set of values (for example, the namelist Names attribute) is treated as a single entity---either all of its values are returned, or none.
Corrective action: Specify a large enough value, unless only a subset of the values is needed. |

So sorry..its 2009 not 2008..
and another thing is ..
if I have 6 message in a queue..
and client is picking the messsages..
and during the MQGET call teh connection breaks..and i get a 2009 error.
But I m losing the message for which the MQGET call fails..
I have made the messages to be persistant..
Even if i put under a syncpoint..
i need to do the following
MQBEGIN
MQGET
MQCOMMIT or BACKOUT depending on MQRC 2009,...
bt if MQGET fails w connection broken..
how do i do a BACKOUT...
any solution to this problem.. _________________ Thimk |

Solution: your MQ Client is most likely not at the same version as your server.
Remember that 5.3 JMS client had troubles before CSD11.
Make sure your client is at the same version as the server or better yet, take the opportunity to move to a supported version (6.0.2.2 or above)
