Hi,

I am a newbie to MQSI and need to find out how to upgrade our current version of MQSI V1.1 on HP-UX using Oracle V8.1.5 to V2.1 and a more current version of Oracle.

I have read in a couple of documents that it is not a simple upgrade and then in other documents that it is a straight forward migration.

Has anyone any experience and advice for us?

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find out what is required.

It's a fairly straightforward process, that requires an intermediate level knowledge of WMQI. There are 2 main steps, the first is to set up the databases and environment variables so the brokers can access the NEON database. The second is to set up a message flow to replicate the NEON rules engine functionality.

Thanks for the reply.

Having looked a little further at the changes in the product releases between MQSI V1.1 and WMQI I understand that NEON rules engine is no longer a part of WMQI and that NEON V5.6 is used.

Is it possible to upgrade the MQSI V1.1 (NEON 4.1.1) directly to WMQI (NEON V5.6) or does it require an intermediate step of upgrading to MQSI V2.0.2?

You don't need to go via 2.0.2. To take your old rules and formats in 4.1.1 you will need to do an export using the NNFIE and NNRIE commands. The manuals recommend that you run another command (forget the name) to perform a consistency check first.

Then you can just import these files into your new NEON 5.6 database. When complete, you can start writing flows that use your NEON rules and format definitions.
