If they're claiming it's an MQ problem almost certainly. MQ errors (or at least common ones) are 2nnn

And sports. Our other great talent is to invent sports that other people are better than us at. Cricket, Rugby, Soccer, the list goes on and on....

Some bad programmer may have coded it so that when an MQ error is received, instead of just displaying the Reason Code, he creates his own error message with his own error code.

Trust me, I've seen this happen.

Very possible. Why pass through the IBM reason code when you can build a translation function and mangle it into something incomprehensible. Not only can you charge for building the pointless function, it helps prevent the maintenance contract going elsewhere.

Ok, I'm cynical as well as sarcastic.

Thanks for the compliment on my first day of MQ and not having a single minutes experience as a developer so I haven't a Danny as to what it's written in.

Usage - well whenever I suppose the application that receives the information is fired up and that I'm afraid is whenever the user and has no schedule as they do it manually.

Big Leagues eh - I bet you're Mum's really proud of you.

I know I've been a bit brash today but it was a good way to get to know you guys

I think I'm now going to assault my developer and the client IT dept.

Wish me luck

She thinks I should get a proper job. I can't find anything else which pays so much for doing so little; I also suspect I'm alergic to work - it brings me out in a sweat.

So you've been given an application error from an application you have no experience of, which employs a technology you've never used, throws an error code which needs the source code you don't have to interpret, occurs at unpredictable times and all runs on a set of unsupported, obsolute and out of support software at a client site you've no access to?

It's not just me that needs a better job......

You've pretty much nailed it on apart from the server with the sourcecode got zapped by our moronic systems manager to free up a server so he can watch YouTube on, therefore no sourcecode.

The developer without this and who can only speak limited English, being one of our Eastern European friends is about as useful as... (something to do with donkey's rectum)

But on a lighter note we do have remote access but only to the MQclient

Joy.

Not to put to fine a point on it, but you're pretty much in the same situation as most MQ administrators.

A typical day goes like
1) Arrive at office and start coffee maker
2) listen to someone scream that MQ is broken again
3) show them the error they made, and why it's actually their fault that their code decided to drop message buffers without logging the fact, and process persistent messages outside syncpoint
4) pour coffee
5) go to step 2.
6) drink coffee

Edit: I forgot step
3a) Explain to them that, no, MQ can't work around this problem for them.

Am keeping an eye on it At one point I thought it was heading for a then a .

Doubtful we have seen the end of this threat just yet. Anxiously awaiting the outcome of 'I think I'm now going to assault my developer and the client IT dept'

At this rate it's heading for 'most replied to' on it's own and we still got 3 weeks to go to rack up the 'viewed' counts too.

For what it is worth, the 3265 could be a WMQ error:
Code:
C:\>mqrc 3265

      3265  0x00000cc1  MQRCCF_CFBF_PARM_ID_ERROR

However, I doubt that this program has been working all along and has now started using a bad parameter id.
