Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone had seen something like this before with MQSeries. I have MQSeries setup as an automatic startup. It looks like when the server is rebooted, It initially comes up for like 2 seconds and then goes right back down.

Any idea what this error may be???
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error code 71 starting RMUPES/Queue Manager MQSeries service.

The MQSeries service was unable to start RMUPES/Queue Manager. The error
message reported was as follows: AMQ8101: Unexpected error (2195).

Use the MQSeries MMC Services Manager to investigate why the service could not
begin. If recovery for this service is active, MQSeries will attempt to
recover.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Upon looking at the MQSeries Logs, here is what I found.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AMQ7882: Attempting to recover RMUPES/Queue Manager MQSeries service.

EXPLANATION:
The MQSeries service has detected that RMUPES/Queue Manager has failed, and is
attempting to restart it.
ACTION:
No Action Required.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,Praveen

Everyone,

I found out what the Error code 71 meant. In this particular case the log file space declared when building the queue manager was over the limit delcared.

Upon increasing the limit in MQSeries Services of the Primary and Secondary log page file size, and restarting the queue manager fixed the problem and MQSeries once again was on it's merry way!

Thanks anyway.

Can you recreate the problem?

I had a terrible feeling that if there were any dependencies for MQSerive to start (may be DB2). I thought if your DB2 is not started and if MQ is trying to start then you might have that problem.

If you have a chance try recreating the problem and let us know what transpires.

Definitely a good thought. When I checked DB2 however, it seemed to be just fine.

All the DB2 services were up and their logs looked in good condition.

Probably the best way to recreate this problem may be to limit the log file size back to a very small number and bounce the queue manager.

Thanks,Praveen
