We are getting a problem where the MQ error logs fill and do not roll round. MQ for Windows 6.0.2.1 under MSCS.
02/12/2007 23:00 262,601 AMQERR01.LOG
02/12/2007 19:40 262,684 AMQERR02.LOG
02/12/2007 17:33 262,601 AMQERR03.LOG
Note not spotted for 10 days on a production server! We get FDC's with Probe Id:- XC404015 coming out at the time. Investigations have shown that this is an intermittent problem, and that it is caused by Patrol locking AMQERR02.LOG. Our Patrol guys are drawing a blank with BMC. Anyone seen similar here or have any ideas?
Thanks,
Chris. |

Yeah, tell BMC to leave your MQ logs alone! When AMQERR01.LOG fills up, MQ wants to delete AMQERR03.LOG, rename AMQERR02.LOG to AMQERR03.LOG, rename AMQERR01.LOG to AMQERR02.LOG, and create a new empty AMQERR01.LOG.
If something other than MQ has any of these files locked up when it comes time to rename them, MQ is gonna have a problem.
Also look at making your MQ Error Logs bigger than the default 256K to minimize the amount of times this renaming has to happen and to just give yourself more info. We set ours to 1MB. _________________ Peter Potkay

Someone may be using BMC Patrol to read the logs remotely. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
