I'm guessing you mean that the number of files in the folder is growing day by day. This indicates you've got linear logging switched on and need to remove the redundant log files to tape or similar.

You'll find the process described in the System Admin file and there's a support pac who's name escapes me for the moment that will help you automate the process with scripts.

If my guess is wrong, please accept my apologies and rephrase your question.

Your log files are on /tmp

Nothing good can come of this. All files on /tmp are there because they can (and probably will) be deleted.

I would not deviate from the default directory structure IBM gives you. It will increase support and maintenance cost and increase the time it takes to resolve problem.

hi all,

Thanks for the reply. I have not deviated the IBM structure. The actual logging /var/mqm is there. i am using circular logging. i have no issue
with the logs in /var/mqm. I suppose the mq is using temparary space /tmp/mqlog/active directory. i want to be cautious to delete the files in /tmp/mqlog/active directory.

regards

I wouldn't suppose that. If MQ needs more space it'll use the /var/mqm path. Or should.

What files are these in /tmp?

What is the name of these? Do you have any MQ exits installed?

With circular logging, there's not a vast amount of value in that.....

In fact the backup is setup to trace persistance messages to some extent to confirm the messages are reached to the system. since circular logging the logs are rewritten for every 4 hours depends upon the traffic.

If you're trying to track the progress & delivery of persistent messages there are a number of better ways. Search the forum.
