I need to install both RAD ( I hope the latest version is 7) and WID ( version 6 ? is this latest version of WID). While going through WID installation doc, it seems that RAD 7 can not coexist ( be installed) on the same box? is this true ? Or can I install WID first and RAD 7 later on?
I would really appreciate your response
thanks a lot |

It should be possible to install both on the same system, with very little difficulty. RAD v7 should be using the new IBM Installation manager that lets you customize whether an IBM Eclipse based product is going to shell-share with another IBM Eclipse based product.
WID is built on top of RAD v6. That is likely what you are seeing comments about - that RAD v6 can't coexist with WID. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Jeff,
I am indicating RAD7 coexisting with WID. RAD 6 can coexist with WID.
Thank you |

I don't see any reason why RAD v7 can't coexist with WID.
I haven't tried it.
I would recommend installing WID first, though. It's more likely that the newer installer with RAD v7 will handle the coexistance scenario better than the older WID installer. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I am reallly want hear from those who have done it or can not do it. I am worrying as the manual says:
Installation requirement for WebSphere Integration Developer 6.0.2
If you already have Rational Application Developer installed, ensure that you have V6.0.1.x in order to be compatible with WebSphere Integration Developer 6.0.2. If you have an earlier or later version of Rational Application Developer, correct this incompatibility with the IBM Rational Product Updater before you install WebSphere Integration Developer 6.0.2.
It does not say clearly whether there is a workaround. It just says, update that means if there is an old, the updates works but what if there is later version that means v7 of RAD? |

I have RAD 7 and WID 6.0.2 installed. They co-exist fine. |

I also have RAD7 and WID6.0.2 installed. As I recall, you don't have to take any action to make sure they work together other than to make sure RAD installs in its own Eclipse shell and not an existing installation (if you install WID first). |

WebSphere Information Developer V6.1 comes with RAD V7 and Eclipse 3.2.2. So, you can go back to a single shared environment. You can also say goodby to the Rational Updater Program, since things are now managed (install, update, uninstall, etc) by the Installation Manager. _________________ Bill Matthews |

Did you mean "WebSphere Integration Developer V6.1" not "WebSphere Information Developer V6.1"?
If so, I got RAD7 installed, but was able to find WID. Still looking. |
