Is it possible to use MQ with RAD? Can this be done without using MQExplorer? Any pre defined nodes available for this? I've a scenario wherin i need to send an XSD through an MQ Queue and wait for a response for a max of 30 s.

It works out simple using MQ Explorer, where i could send messages from RAD through JMS to MQExplorer, but how can this be done without using MQExplorer? !!

MQExplorer is just a gui interface.... you can do all mq tasks without it also

good luck

But u still need MQ Explorer for configring MQ runtime env! We dont have MQ installed. Does RAD have any built in feautre for MQ? Or is JMS the only solution?

What are you actually trying to do?

The MQ Explorer is only one option for configuring and administering MQ runtime environments.

JMS is not an option for configuring and administering MQ runtime environments. It is, however, one of several choices for sending and receiving MQ messages from a program.

These are two entirely different things, and are handled entirely differently.

The RAD tooling does not include any tooling for configuring or administering MQ. This is because it's the Rational Application Developer. It's designed to make it easy to develop applications, not configure or administer systems.

RAD also does not include an MQ equivalent of the WAS/WPS test environments - as there is no such thing to include. If you want developers to be able to perform local testing against MQ, then you need to install MQ on developer workstations.

I am trying to send an XSD from a J2EE App to another app, thro MQ. We are using RAD for running these Apps. I guessed the solution to be send message from Java thro' JMS to MQ.

Hope that would work.

But i got confused over if there is any aleternative of using MQ in RAD instead of installing it separately. Now that is cleared!

Thank you so much.
