When we try to do a channel status display on a particular channel there are two channels showing up.
One is like

QMGR1:

ABC.TO.XYZ
conname : 123.45.67.890(1414)
Status (Requesting)

The other is

ABC.TO.XYZ
conname : mirage.pearl.com
Status (Running)

Thess channels are of type REQUESTER. The channel initiator is running on port 1418. The second definition doesn't have any port number stated in it's conname.

QMGR2:
The display here for the same channel gives:

ABC.TO.XYZ
conname : mirage.pearl.com(1418)
Status (Running)

This channel is of type SERVER
Just one is showing up.

When we delete this channel on QMGR1 and do a display then none of them show up. Now if we create the latter (second channel on QMGR1) and do a display both of them appear again.
I know two channels with the same name can exist, but how do I get rid of the other.

I don't see any FDC's or error messages. The messages are flowing too.

Some more information:
Both the QMGRs are on AIX.
QMGR1 is in a cluster and it is not the repository it exists in
QMGR2 in not in any cluster.

Have you tried deleting both channels and then stop/start queue manager and then recreate the queue manager.

When you say both channels do you mean channels on both the QMGRs. No, I haven't tried that but I can't bring the QMGR down.
If I delete the channel on the first QMGR and do a display no channel is displayed. But if I define ONE channel and do a display both of them appear again.

Do you think deleting channels on both ends would solve the problem. I want just one channel (not two channels with same name). I will try this then if the problem still persists then I will stop/start QMGR and see what happens.

Deleting both channels on both sides solved the problem. I didn't have to stop and start the QMGR.
