Hi All,

We recently increased the number of Primary transaction logs in our Prod qmgr on AIX ( the change was done in the qm.ini file ).

However even after the qmgr restart we found the same old number of log files in the qmgr log folders.

Does anyone know when this number would show up increased ?

If it were to happen at runtime i.e when the qmgr actually needs it - there would be no difference between Prim & Sec logs right ?

Any information would be highly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
Aravind

The difference between primary and secondary log files is that secondary log files can/will get removed by qmgr, and primary can/will not.

yes True - But during such changes to the Primary log number - when would the change actually reflect in the actual files on the log folders ?

Primary logs are allocated at qmgr creation. Secondary logs are allocated as needed.

And presumably the first time they're needed, if they don't exist.

Jeff: for fun: create a qmgr, start it, stop it, display the logs. Lots o'stuff in the logs.

Bruce! For Fun, create a qmgr. Start it, stop it. Increase the Primary Logs. Start it again.

However, a change in the value is not effective until the queue manager is restarted, and the effect might not be immediate.
