Hi,

I wanted to find out if there is any difference between the Publish/Subscribe message broker that comes with the Websphere MQ 6.0 product and the Websphere Message broker 6.0.
Is there any article on the web where I can get the differences (if any)?

Thanks for any help.

You mean other than the section in the WMB Info Center on the differences?

One is a basic pub/sub engine, one is an industrial strength broker coupled to a full featured transformation capability?

Other comparisions are possible and possibly valid.

So that means if a big implementation of publish/ subscribe brokerage is to be acheived then the best bet is to go with Websphere Message broker 6.0. If only a few applications need to publish and/or subscribe data then one can even use the Pub/Sub broker that ships with Websphere MQ.
Concepts are similar for both.

Am I correct in this assumption?

Any documentation on the differences would give me a clear picture.

Thanks for help

The biggest difference is access and authorization at topic level.
You need to compare the features and decide what is best suited to the business at the price the business is willing to pay....

The biggest difference is that WMQ Pub/Sub uses the MQRFH header and WMB Pub/Sub uses MQRFH2 header.

The second biggest difference is that WMB Pub/Sub lets you filter topic subscriptions based on message content.

Pub/Sub security is meaningful, but not widely used AFAIK.

And then there's the differences in multi-broker topologies...

Here are a few

1) Route a message to several destinations, using rules that act on the contents of one or more of the fields in the message or message header. 2) Transform a message, so that applications using different formats can exchange messages in their own formats.
3) Store and retrieve a message, or part of a message, in a database.
4) Modify the contents of a message (for example, by adding data extracted from a database).
5) Publish a message to make it available to other applications. Other applications can choose to receive publications that relate to specific topics, or that have specific content, or both.
6) Create structured topic names, topic-based access control functions, content-based subscriptions, and subscription points.

Here is the doc that Jeff described, which describes the differences: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmbhelp/v6r1m0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.etools.mft.doc/aq19770_.htm
